
Jollof Rice
Jollof rice is a popular African dish that is eaten by many people around the world. Although there are many different versions today we will be showing you how to make the best Jollof rice, the Nigerian Jollof Rice (owambe version) using the best seasoning - “SanaZone Jollof Rice Seasoning”
Ingredients
- 5 Cups of parboiled rice (or your choice of rice)
- 2 Bell peppers
- 1 Onion
- 2 Habanero Peppers (may reduce or not add if you do not want it spicy)
- 4 Roma Tomatoes
- 1 cup of Oil
- 2 cups or 32 fluid ounces of Water
- 2 mini cans of tomato paste
- ¼ cup of The SanaZones Jollof Rice Seasoning
- Chicken bullion and salt (optional)
Instructions
- To start, pour about a cup of the oil of your choice into a pot. While the oil heats up, chop half an onion.
- Once the oil has heated up, add your chopped onions and let that fry for 5 minutes on low heat or until the aroma of the onions is in the air.
- Add 2 mini cans of Tomato Paste into the pot of frying diced onions and let it fry for about 6-10 minutes.
- Wash any rice of your choice (we prefer regular parboiled rice). Once washed, add the rice into the pot
- Fry the rice with the tomato paste for about 10 minutes making sure to stir regularly.
- Blend 2 fresh bell peppers, half an onion, 2 pieces of fresh habanero peppers, and 4 fresh roma tomatoes. Once everything is blended, add the mixture into the pot
- Stir everything together and add water as needed
- Season with Sanazone Jollof Rice Seasoning, add chicken bouillon powder and/or Salt to taste
- Cover your pot's lid with foil paper and place it on the pot
- Stir the rice occasionally, check the softness and taste (add more water and Sana Jollof Rice seasoning as needed); and after about 45-60 minutes, it should be done!
- Your tasty owambe jollof rice is ready to be enjoyed.
- Serve with protein of your choice and/or fried plantain (dodo)
